OHB Septic Systems

OHB PDT Community Members.

As mentioned in a past coordination meeting, the groundwater evaluation and potential impacted on septic system evaluation will be done as more subsurface information comes in. At this time, it would be helpful to start gathering information on the septic systems within the OHB levee area.

Below is a list of information that would be helpfully to collect/gather to aide in the septic system evaluation.

1) Description of past events when the septic systems were impacted (didn’t work properly).

• * typical ground cover and weather conditions
• * are the systems only impacted in the spring or other times throughout the year too?

a) Which systems were effected?

• * type of system (mound, conventional, etc)
• * location within community

b) Were emergency measures in place when the system didn’t work properly? If so, how far away were the emergency measures located from the impacted system(s)?

c) Was there any water ponding in the vicinity of the septic systems. If so, rough idea on distance between the impacted system(s) and the ponded water?

d) Was there snow cover? If so, how deep?

2) Design of the septic system

a) Is there a typical design used in the area that can be provided?

b) If not, is there some specific septic system design that can be provided
