Nearly 45 years have passed since the 1969 flood, almost 17 years since the 1997 flood, yet the idiots at the helm in Fargo still build a clay dikes on 2nd street and provide police escorts for sandbags when pumped up flood numbers are created.
Continue ReadingThe Oxbow-Hickson-Bakke ring dike has become a contentious issue that divides the community. A majority of this community voted against the plan. The remainder of the residents, a clear minority from Oxbow, cut a favorable deal for millions in benefits, and they now actively promote the plan they once opposed.
Continue ReadingThe diversion could be moved north of the confluence of the Wild Rice and Red Rivers. Recent studies show that taking less area out of the floodplain south of Fargo and reducing the amount of water in the river during times of flooding through distributed storage (water detention) would completely eliminate impacts of Fargo’s diversion in Richland and Wilkin counties.

The request by the DA to meet with them implies a knowledge of impacts that need to be addressed. Possible impacts for this home and other properties in the area outside of the staging/storage area (the Red Box) are acknowledged, but no compensation is provided.

Of this land, approximately 14,000 acres is within the present 100-year floodplain. Against FEMA warnings of flood plain encroachment, Fargo and Cass County ND continue their land grab in violation of ND Law and Executive Order 11988.
Continue ReadingThe red box is supposed to indicate less than one-foot of new water from the dam that is part of the planned diversion. FEMA will draw new floodplain maps once the diversion is built, that will prohibit new construction in areas that get flooded as a result of Fargo’s plan.
