Continue ReadingWe feel this project would be a gigantic mistake and waste of taxpayer dollars. The result of this project would take away my livelihood and devastate my farm and that has been in my family for four generations. The project will only benefit a small part ofthe Fargo/Moorhead area, while creating more water problems throughout the Red River Valley Basin area. There are too many holes in this current plan and too many foreseeable problems, this radical plan the Corps has planned is illogical.
Continue ReadingIn face to face meetings, the United States Army Corps of Engineers refuses to provide answers to valid questions from citizens and has attempted to procedure-ally sidestep FOIA – Freedom of Information Act requests. The taxpayers that are expected to shoulder the tax burden for the Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Area Flood Risk Management plan need and deserve real answers.
Continue ReadingIn total, three North Dakota communities and hundreds of homes will be erased from the map. As we understand the plan, the diversion along with holding areas of water would inundate our property with 7 to 8 feet of water that we did not previously have to deal with. We, however, cannot support the current plan to use our home as the sacrificial lamb to increase the comfort level of the metro area without knowing where we stand relative to a potential buyout, land usage, and opportunities/costs related to whether or not we will be able to afford to continue the lifestyle we chose to live outside of the FM Metro Area in the 1st place.
Continue ReadingThe initial plan took quite some time to develop but the final plan was pushed through very rapidly without input from the communities that will be adversely impacted. The alignment of the Diversion has been chosen by the local sponsors to accommodate the city of Fargo’s current future plans for development. It is not based on sound engineering principles or with the intent of minimizing the costs of the project as much as possible but rather to remove land that is in the existing flood plain for development.
Continue ReadingWe are disappointed that with so many intelligent people involved, so many years of planning as well as passing a tax in order to pay for this, that it would wipe out communities, ruin a school district as well as relocate two cemeteries, a church and destroy valuable farmland and historical sites. This plan disregards the rights of many people in order to concentrate solely on the Fargo-Moorhead area. We cannot and will not support the diversion plan.
Continue ReadingI am writing to you in opposition to the July 2011 FEIS for the Locally Preferred Plan. This plan presents many concerns regarding negative effects on the residents, farmers, and economy of the region. Because my comments for the SDEIS were not adequately addressed I expanding on them for this comment period. This plan has been developed exclusively for the benefit of a small portion of the region and does not include benefits for, nor does it consider the economic impacts to not only the local region but to the whole Red River valley.

To choose this expensive, complex Fargo diversion; it seems very logical that it is not the best solution, but a land grab by Fargo…
