Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney

Congratulation are in order for Tim Mahoney…, “nobody” received more votes than Mahoney in his successful bid for re-election as Fargo’s Mayor until 2022.

The Fargo Forum cited Mahoney on April 20, 2018 as being:

“…humbled that he’s running unopposed and hopes
that the community likes what he is doing…”

According to the North Dakota Secretary of State (SOS) website, there were 22,159 total votes cast in Fargo’s June 12, 2018 election.

Of those 22,159 votes cast 9,368 darkened the oval and voted for mayor with 8,957 voting for Timothy J Mahoney and 411 for a write candidates.

Taking into account all 22,159 ballots cast – 12,791 voters could not bring themselves to darken the oval next to the name of Timothy J Mahoney.

The ND SOS indicates an overwhelming win for Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney, however, in the bigger picture a more significant statement was made by the voters.

Out of 22,159 votes cast – 12,791 (58.5 percent) literally voted for “nobody” as opposed to mayoral incumbent Tim Mahoney’s 40.4 percent running unopposed. 411 voters even chose to enter another candidates name as opposed to voting for incumbent Tim Mahoney.

This would suggest that the community DOES NOT LIKE what he is doing… and no other candidate wanted to clean up the mess that Mahoney and his ilk have created. It would be a thankless job in an environment of imperialistic group-think.

So what would have happened, per se’, if 12,791 voters had actually taken the time to darken the oval next to the write in candidate and enter these words: “NOT Timothy J Mahoney”…, would he still have become mayor?

Would Fargo been rid of Fargo’s worst mayor in history, thus far?
