If Keith Berndt is willing to share misinformation to a national newspaper (Star Tribune) on a project this large, what other nuggets of misinformation have been swept under the rug and kept from public scrutiny?
Farming is arguably a business, just like any other. The unique facet of farming is that it contributes “lifeblood” to the economic landscape of the Red River Valley, North Dakota and national economy – providing thousands of jobs and billions in gross annual revenues, as opposed to a golf course that cannot even fill its private membership roster.
Moorhead residents should consider themselves lucky have a city council that is still willing to weigh the pro’s and con’s of an issue, rather than otto-matically rubber stamping Fargo Diversion Authority propaganda.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Fargo Diversion Authority distorted the 2009 flood event at Fargo, ND with a “non-official” EOE (Expert Opinion Elicitation) to overstate impacts, increase the Cost Benefit Ratio and downgrade previous historic flood events and flood protection in pursuit of a $2 billion plus boondoggle.
The fact is the location of the diversion alignment with the dam, ditch and levee does not increase the protection of the currently developed area of Fargo vs. more conservative and less expansive flood control plans. The location only gives the city more area to grow without FEMA flood plain regulations.
When Fargo/Cass “leaders” begin believing their own lies and try to establish a means to obtain or justify certain actions to project false accusations, information, etc., for the sole purpose of maintaining a self-created illusion – how can the average person feel their best interests are truly at heart?
At no time, has the Diversion Authority been willing to discuss with either group, alternatives that would achieve flood control for Fargo and reduce impacts for those upstream. Whether directed by the Army Corps, or by their own attorneys, their practice of stonewalling those who are being hurt is at best unproductive, and at worst, unethical.
When people, such as Darrell Vanyo, become drunk with their power – they begin to believe they are un-accountable to the people, yet profess they are serving the people by providing preferential treatment to one set of people over another. The mere fact that these imbeciles attempt to justify the rightness of their cause is based in the numbers they represent is a fundamental character flaw.
Who needs a pipeline to move oil field benefits from the west? Fargo diversion backers have concocted a scheme to turn the state’s oil and agriculture bounty into a giant ATM machine.
This is nothing new. This is what we have come to expect from the cowards that are trying to control what you are “allowed” to know about the FM Diversion…, When it comes flooding, natural flood plain development and a pro-diversion message, the alleged private citizen, Fargo leaders and the Diversion Authority are realizing that the horses have long since left barn and they are naive enough think that locking the door “now” will do them any good.
